Your tithes, offerings, gifts, and contributions to Red Hill have an impact on the Kingdom! Here are some things that your generous contributions have helped accomplish over the last year, in addition to providing for the regular worship gatherings and the staff of Red Hill:
Baptized 8 people
This past year we baptized 8 people! Our hope is to see even more baptisms in 2017, but we feel so blessed to participate in the harvest that God is producing in our city. If you didn’t get to see our baptism video you should check it out here.
If you have any questions about our baptism service feel free to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. It was an incredibly powerful day that has actually led to two others requesting baptism!
Grown to a weekly attendance average of 120
Our largest Sunday was 154, and we regularly eclipse 130 in attendance. We aren’t measuring our health by these numbers, but we are really blessed to know that God is sending the hurting and the broken to us so that we can lift up Jesus and love on them. We are currently preaching and reading through the book of Esther. We have provided our people with bookmarks that have a reading and journaling plan, and we continue hearing stories about people reading their Bibles for the first time and families doing devotions together for the first time. If you’d like a bookmark then let us know! Also, you can follow the Esther reading plan, watch live video devotionals, and listen to the sermons just by liking and following our Facebook page. Also, it really helps us out when people share our statuses. If you hear a sermon or see a post that is especially encouraging, please feel free to share it!
Sending Red Hill on mission in Haiti
In Haiti our team was able to provide medical care for hundreds of Haitians. It took a massive amount of effort to prepare our team for the trip, and it was a spiritually challenging and rewarding trip. Your gifts made it possible for our church to send a team on an international trip before we were even one year old!
Our Haiti team also spent some time at an orphanage while they were in the country. We were able to give enough money to the orphanage to provide beds for several orphans who had been sleeping on the floor. Our team was able to spend the better part of a day loving on the children and the workers there. We fell in love with a set of twins who were newborn and struggling to live. While our team was in Haiti one of the orphans died, and our team leader began the process (immediately after returning home) of trying to adopt the other orphan. Unfortunately the adoption process in Haiti made it impossible for the adoption to take place, but the family from Red Hill began sending financial support for that orphan. We received word last month that the second orphan had died. Even worse, the orphanage was not able to pay the money required to get her body from the morgue, and they also lacked the funds to give her a proper burial. Because of your generosity (and the generosity of others), Red Hill was able to help cover the cost of giving this child of the King a dignified burial. You helped us fulfill James 1:27, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
Sending Red Hill on mission in India
Our second international mission trip was to Bangalore, India. While there our team was able to train church planters and pastors, to encourage local believers, to visit with persecuted Christians, to worship with persecuted churches, to encourage IMB missionaries, and to develop a heart for one of the most unreached places on the planet! Your generosity has helped us partner with church planters and the Indian Baptist Society, who have set the goal of planting 50,000 house churches in the next 15 years! We were also able to give a generous financial gift to a missionary family who lives full time in Southeast Asia. Your generosity made it possible for us to go, for church planters and pastors to be fed, and for hundreds of people to hear the gospel while we were in India.
Providing a new box (worship space) for Red Hill
We call our worship space “The Box” because we want to emphasize the truth that the church is the people not the building. We don’t go to church. We are the church. But…it is nice to have a space to meet in on a regular basis! We began meeting on the campus of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville (SIUe). After several scheduling conflicts we began looking for our own space, and your generosity made that hunt and the rental of our space possible! We no longer have to load in and load out every Sunday, and our worship space is available to us all week for meetings, staff work areas, and community engagement. Our box has been outfitted with updated sound, media, seating, and kids ministry equipment. It’s a beautiful place, and we would love to have you join us for a worship gathering sometime soon!
Please continue to pray for us regarding facilities. Square footage is very expensive in Edwardsville, but we are quickly running out of room at our current location! We run two worship gatherings now, and we are often very close to capacity in at least one of our gatherings. Pray that God would help us find a great space to use (with room for growth) where we could worship and have some office space.
Your giving has made it possible for us to give! Red Hill partners with the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention, the Illinois Baptist State Association, and our local Baptist Association (Gateway Baptist Association), which means we help support the training of pastors, missionaries, and church planters at the six Southern Baptist Seminaries, we help fund the nearly 6,000 Southern Baptist missionaries outside of North America, and we help fund church plants and church planters all across North America through the Send Network.
In addition to the Southern Baptist Convention and the Send Network, Red Hill partners with the August Gate Church Planting Network. August Gate Church was our “sending church” (which means they helped coach and financially support us as we prepared to launch). Together we are working as a network to plant churches all across the St. Louis metro area. Red Hill Church has also been able to partner with an inner city church called Faith Community Bible Church in Baden, MO.
Local Missional Engagement
Our local missional engagement is guided by Jeremiah 29:7, “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” We have been able to partner with our Parks and Recreation Department to sponsor movies where hundreds of citizens attend. We have sponsored booths at the Route 66 Festival, where thousands come to shop, eat, and enjoy our community. And we were even invited to help open the new splash pad park in our city We have also been able to partner with a local elementary school to help raise money for library books. In addition to all of this we have made some exciting plans about how we can serve our community during the annual Halloween Parade, where more than 24,000 people will attend and enjoy our community’s creativity!
Some Final Thoughts
In just a year and a half Red Hill Church has been part of some incredible things, and God has both blessed and used us locally and globally! You have been with us every step we have taken, every gospel witness we have given, every orphan we have blessed, every church planter we have trained and encouraged, and every person we have discipled.
Red Hill is all about the Gospel, community, and the mission God has given. He has planted Red Hill exactly where and when He desired. Your gifts have been--and will be--used to fill the whole earth with the knowledge of His glory. Thank you for giving!
Your Partners in the Gospel,
Rayden Hollis & Red Hill Church
