Choose to hope

13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:13

Your story isn’t over. God isn’t finished with you yet. Because of Jesus, we believe every person alive has a very good reason to have hope. It’s not too late for you, or for him, or for her, or for them. We love it when we get to believe in faith that God will work in a person’s life.

Our hope isn't rooted in fanciful wonder. Our hope is rooted in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. His perfect life, substitutionary death, and bodily resurrection are the basis of all hope for all people for all time. This doesn't mean that everyone will believe, but it means that everyone could believe.

So we pray relentlessly. We hope with ferocity. We believe that all of God's promises are true. Every word of God is true. And we are His people. We believe He loves to give good gifts. We believe He is at work today. We believe the same power that raised Jesus from death lives inside of us.

We believe it is the responsibility of the local church to be a local beacon of hope. We believe that every person in our community should hear the gospel, and we believe that God can work in the best of us or in the worst of us. We believe that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. There are no criteria to meet, no prerequisites to accomplish, and no standards to meet beforehand.

When you are discouraged, you should turn to the church. When you are doubting, you should turn to the church. When you feel as though your loved ones will never believe, you should turn to the church. We should be a people who sincerely and honestly believe that God's arm is not too short nor His power too weak to save.

We are not shiny, happy people who always believe that everything will work out to make us happy. We are real people with real problems and real doubts. But we believe in and trust God more than we believe in and trust our doubts, our fears, or our problems. Hope is our right as the people of God. And when you lose it we will not. We will help you find it again, and we will hope for you when you believe all hope is lost.

The world can be a discouraging place. Let's not leave them in the darkness.

Let's choose to hope.
